Think about the first time you felt seen when you read or saw something that told part of your story that you never knew you needed to hear. How did it feel to experience this? Sensitivity reading (sometimes called authenticity reading / editing) is all about helping writers create more authentic and respectful portrayals of marginalized communities so that more people can see themselves represented in literature and other kinds of media.
In this video, I explain what sensitivity reading is and talk about my personal experience doing this work since I started in 2015.
